Fashion Bloggers, Scandinavian Style & Camille Kaasby-Wang

Fashion Week September 2009—The ever expanding presence of fashion bloggers and their attendant power has got everyone stirring. During SS’10 fashion week— from NYC to Copenhagen— bloggers came out en masse. Descending from remote corners of the globe, droves of (once obscure) on-line editors converged on the most coveted parties, events and shows gaining backstage access, front-row seats and exclusive interviews with celebs and designers alike.

I ran into Dazed Digital’s Susie Lau (a.k.a. Susie Bubble) at virtually every event I attended; the venerable Wendy Lam of Nitrolicious blog was ubiquitous as always; Tommy Ton, who masterminds Jak and Jil, made his way from Toronto and was deeply embedded in the downtown cool crowd.

I caught-up with the ever insightful Robert Cordero of the JC Report, the stylish LaLa Lopez who writes LALA NY and photography maven Katya Mooreman of Style Defined, amongst many others.

I was also deeply delighted to make the acquaintance of C A M I L L E KAASBY-WANG, the super-sexy freckle-faced Dane behind Clamour4Glamor, which has been getting tons of press lately and is certainly buzz worthy!

Stunningly beautiful and truly dedicated to her vocation, Camille can be spotted all over fashion-land, snapping her signature shots of the coolest gear and hanging with high-impact editors, designers and proprietors. She is an accomplished critic, counsel, stylist and Mom and has her finger on the pulse of global trends. Her site (written in Danish) offers tons of insight and revelation and is becoming known for its entertaining jumble of tangy fashion stories, eye-grabbing headlines, celebrity style news and a good dose of spry self-portraiture.

In a very short period, she has positioned her blog as an influential fashion vehicle to showcase her favorite labels, trends, emerging talents and miscellaneous info. In addition to C4G, she also edits one of Denmark’s coolest magazines, EUROWOMAN, where she has a must-read column on all things cool.
I really enjoy her work because it conveys the original, creative and humble underpinnings of Scandinavian fashion and culture. In fact, Danish names like Henrik Vibskov, NanNu Brand, Noir and Moonspoon Saloon are amongst the world’s coolest yet underrated labels. Camille gives us a glimpse into Nordic fashion with a focus on cool Danish designers and their creative output.

Camille also styles, photographs and advises chic boutiques and stores, working with hot young Scandinavian designers on photo shoots, look books and design direction. She is a contributor to Trendsales.dk, a weekly fashion news letter with a focus on youth-driven fashion, and has lately become the cat’s meow among Nordic trend-setters.
As for her trademark style/fashion commentary, which fixates on unique accessories (especially Nicholas Kirkwood who, she admits, makes her ‘weak in the knees’), runway pieces and overall wearability, Camille says “I like to think of myself as fashion connoisseur providing a platform to reflect my own subjective views on fashion and culture. My overarching aim is to entertain, inform and inspire.”

Camille is a dashingly hot Danish girl who knows style in and out! She is also part of a rising cadre of influential fashion bloggers and online editors who are stirring up the scene and causing ructions within the print publication business.

With so many voices clamoring for attention in print and within the blogosphere, a premium is put on sensational fashion, art, style and substance. Camille’s site, Clamour4Glamor, as well as sites like Jak and Jil, Style Bubble and Fashionista, embody this substance and are emerging together as reputable and informative ‘feedback loop’ capturing the high-octane, behind-the-scenes energy of Fashion Week, culture and beyond.
