MAG RACK VOL. XI: VOGUE HOMMES INTERNATIONAL

ORIGIN: France (maybe you’ve noticed that I read a lot of French magazines, but there are just so many good ones out there!). VOGUE HOMMES INTERNATIONAL has been around since the early eighties and gained new fame in 2006, when Carine Roitfeld was appointed editorial director. It is published biannually (in March and in September).

LANGUAGE: There are two versions of the magazine available: one in English and one in French. Feel free to choose.

CONTENT: Take the normal French VOGUE, replace all the sexy females by some hot males, the make-up by cars and you basically know what VOGUE HOMMES INTERNATIONAL is all about. This is no surprise, since the magaine is the product of masterminds Carine Roitfeld and Olivier Lalanne, who are also on top of the masthead of French Vogue. Emmanuelle Alt, the fashion-editor-in-chief of French VOGUE, is a regular contributor and makes the triumvirate complete. The similarities between French VOGUE and VOGUE HOMMES INTERNATIONAL are definitley visible, but that is not neccesarily a bad thing (I’m just saying: SEXY editorials!!!).

VOGUE HOMME INTERNATIONAL features the usual stuff that can be found in a men’s magazine – expensive cars, watches, electronic divices,… And beautiful, naked girls, of course. You know, all the stuff rich, successful men are supposed to care about. Yet, it has a bigger focus on fashion and style than most other men’s magazines. The latest news from the cosmetics market are not coming short either (Because even if we do want our men to look a little dirty, hygiene is still mandatory. RIGHT??)  You also get to read quality interviews with style icons and artists alike.

VOGUES HOMMES INTERNATIONAL is even more obviously directed at a very upclass target-group than all the women’s VOGUES around the globe. So you’re probably not going to find many things you are actually able to buy. But who cares, a little inspiration never hurts.

ERGO: LOVE! 10/10 points. Hot (and I mean: REALLY hot) lads, great fashion, good interviews – what more do you want to hear?
