Brit Awards 09 – Duffy did very well

She made a huge breakthrough last year with a “Rockferry”, and her personal fairtyale still goes on. With 3 Brit Awards, Duffy is the winner, joined by Elbow and Kings of Leon, so far.

Award Ceremonies due an economy crises are a bit strange. Even the British economy lay a bit too down to celebrate the Music Industry (which also decreased in 2008). But one thing was approved by the Brits last Night. They are much better than the U.S. Grammys, which were more Grannies this year.

The whole Night kicked off with a live show from U2. “Get on your boots”, their actual Single was also performed at the Grammys. So it wasn´t different at all but the Sound at Earls Court was much better than at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Did anyobdy asked those Guys what they think about the Album leak which came from one of the Universal Australia employees?

Kylie showed up with a piece of “Can´t get you out of my head”, but she wasn´t their to perfom, because she was hired to host this Show. And the first award goes to?

Best Female for Katy Perry. This wasn´t a huge surprise, and that the Girls Aloud Performance afterwards was crap. But then, Duffy´s first one, out of three Big Moments turned in. She won the “Best British breakthrough Award” and with the total amount of shitloads of Record Sales last year (Ranked on No.4 at the List of Global Sellers, which was topped by, surprise, Coldplay), the new Dusty Springfield really deserve this.

Best Selling Act 2008, Coldplay hit the Stage with their multi platinum Seller “Viva la vida” (The Single, not the full Album) and like their Grammy Performance, it wasn´t new and less exciting.

On the International Area, Fleet Foxes received very good critics and and were nominated for “Best International Act”. There was at least one Song on their Album which was catchy enough to catch me. But thats an other Story. And if we talk about beards and Bands, than i should link this to the Kings of Leon. Caleb and his matesh recieved the Award above and for their Best International Album “Only by the Night” (by the way, this review is also the most viewed here, so have a look).
And you shouldn´t miss this catchy Remix from the Brooklyn based Chew Fu.

So in fact, there is no way to hide from the Kings in 2009. And Brandon Flowers from The Killers know that, because he was also nominated with “Day & Age”. It seems that good music will prevail.

Pet Shop Boys are one of the legends, so they´ve received the “Outstanding…” whatever Award before hitting the Stage to play a Medley together with Brandon Flowers and current UK Chartbreaker, Lady GaGa.

Last but not least, Elbow won the Award for best British Act. These Guys did also a Cover of U2s “Running to stand still” for the War Child Sampler, which left two more words on this Post: It´s astonishing.

Note: The a bit annoying “ohhh ohh ohh ohhos” are used by Coldplay, U2, Kings of Leon, Killers…So they should give away a “oh oh” award next year.
