The trouble with writers— actually, bloggers— these days, besides the fact that there are way too many of them, is that after a period of hype and attention-grabbing, most degenerate into idle chatter, boredom, solipsism and, inevitably, irrelevance. In short, they recede into oblivion only to be superseded by the next gregarious social climber-cum-publisher. Christopher Koulouris, aka, the “SCALLYWAG” who edits the acclaimed Scallywag and Vagabond, however, seems indefatigable; in fact, Koulouris has been more dashing and prolific than ever and is ruffling some feathers around NYC and beyond—and is penetrating an ever wider audience with his webzine/tabloid he dubs a “salon of cultural affairs.”

Fashion Week September 2009—The ever expanding presence of fashion bloggers and their attendant power has got everyone stirring. During SS’10 fashion week— from NYC to Copenhagen— bloggers came out en masse. Descending from remote corners of the globe, droves of (once obscure) on-line editors converged on the most coveted parties, events and shows gaining backstage access, front-row seats and exclusive interviews with celebs and designers alike.

London’s strength has always been its emerging talent, whose creativity is a function of its unbridled energy, world-class design schools and cosmopolitan population. Add to that mix a hyper-competitive art/intellectual landscape strewn with tons of energetic young designers striving for recognition and shelf-space. While Jeremy Scott, Peter Pilotto and Preen showed their super-fresh looks last week in London, we also got to see presentations from the newest crop of rising stars. Mr. GEORGY BARATASHVILI is one such star.
